ARTIST STATEMENT

Nightshift explores the effects of sleep deprivation and the complex relationship between our mental state and our perception of reality. This series reflects on how inconsistent sleep patterns can distort our awareness and heighten our perception of threats to loved ones and our environment. The balance between our internal world and external experiences can sometimes become blurred. As we attempt to manage our busy lives, quality sleep often becomes less of a priority, leading to a distorted judgment of our surroundings. Each glass piece serves as a reconfigured diary, representing the heightened awareness and irrational thoughts that frequently accompany sleeplessness.
