ARTIST STATEMENT
Bed Time captures a quiet, intimate moment—a friend, Lauren, lying in bed, her head resting on a pillow just out of full view. This work explores the vulnerability of private moments, particularly the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep. It invites reflection on the thoughts that surface when we're alone with ourselves, in the quiet of our own rooms.
As someone who typically works on a smaller scale, this painting was also a personal exploration of size, how intimacy can be held within a larger frame. The scale challenged me to consider how softness, emotion and stillness can be expanded rather than compressed.
Bed Time sits at the intersection of friendship, solitude and self-reflection, offering a tender pause in a fast-moving world.
